Phillip B. Shell

Mr. Shell (please just call him Phil) received a B.S. in Mathematics from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 1978 and taught mathematics in the public school system for a year at Brighton High School before returning again to school himself where he received his Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1982.
He began his legal practice with Robert J. DeBry and Associates in 1982 before becoming a partner in the law firm of Day & Barney (now Day Shell & Liljenquist, L.C.) in 1985.
He is a member of the Utah State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
He recently was successful at the Utah Supreme Court in overturning a law which took money from disabled Utah seniors when they began to get Social Security retirement benefits. This resulted in a recovery for Utah families of over 15 million dollars.
He belongs to the Utah Association for Justice and is active in the workers' compensation section of the UAJ.
Mr. Shell currently concentrates his practice in the area of Worker's Compensation -with an active practice before
the Utah Labor Commission. He also can help you with Social Security Disability and Personal Injury Claims. He has successfully litigated many hundreds of cases over the past 27 plus years. He can likely let you know up front whether you have a good case and what you can expect.
He also can help you with a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Let him counsel with you in determining what to do. There is no charge for the initial consultation. You'll appreciate his sense of humor along with his ability to put your at ease as you learn your options. Phil also has experience in family law, contract disputes, and criminal defense.
He has been legal counsel for the Injured Workers' Association of Utah, a non-profit organization that served the public by educating workers about their rights under the Worker's Compensation system.
He also served for many years as a pro-tem judge in the Murray and Sandy Small Claims Courts.
Mr. Shell continues to be a featured speaker at various seminars concerning workers' compensation issues. In his spare time he enjoys playing the banjo and is an avid free lance photographer.

OUR LOCATION
We are easy to find being centrally located in Murray, Utah. Our address is 45 East Vine Street, which is 1/2 block west of State Street - directly west of the Wells Fargo Bank on the corner of State Street and Vine in Murray (at about 4900 South).
The Intermountain Medical Center is our newest neighbor to the south, with the Lost Creek Apartments being directly across the street from us. We have our own parking on the west side of the building. Wheelchair access is available on the east side of our building.
